Banner Estrella Medical Center opened January 2005 to serve the rapidly-growing communities of Avondale, Buckeye, Glendale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Peoria, Surprise, Tolleson and west Phoenix.
The 50-acre campus includes a 172-bed hospital, an outpatient surgery center and a medical office building. Services offered at the medical campus include surgery, cancer care, cardiac services, emergency services and a comprehensive women and infants services program.
Banner Estrella is designed with an eye toward the future, specifically 10-20 years into the future and is predicted to grow to 300 beds by 2010.
The hospital utilizes state-of-the-art technology to improve the patient experience. Examples include computerized patient documentation such as a computerized physician order entry system, which eliminates paper flip charts, allowing doctors to automatically update patient information and place medication orders subsequently reducing/eliminating medical errors.
It also provides a healing environment where soothing colors, natural light and comfortable furnishings, to name a few, are used extensively.
